
Basic Hydraulics
3 Day course on Industrial Hydraulics and Controls for plant engineers, technicians, craftsmen and maintenance personnel who require a knowledge of hydraulic components, systems, methods of control, pro-active maintenance, fault finding and solving, contamination control.
Aims on Completion of the course candidates will:
- Be able to read and interpret hydraulic circuit diagrams.
- Understand basic hydraulic principles and their application.
- Know the function, operation and control of major circuit components.
- Follow a logical approach to fault finding.
- Know principles of Total Cleanliness Control.
- Know how to apply pro-active maintenance techniques, efficiently and safely.
- To gain hands on experience of building, fault-finding and optimising hydraulic circuits using our range of specially designed training rigs.
Day 1
- Basic hydraulic principles.
- Hydraulic symbols and circuit notations.
- Pressure Control valves and associated circuitry.
- Relief valves and pressure reducing valves.
- Sequence valves and counter balance / overcentre valves.
- Flow control valves and associated circuitry.
- Simple throttle valves.
- Pressure/temperature compensated units.
- Directional control valve and associated circuitry.
- Direct operated spool valves.
- Two stage spool valves.
- Poppet valves and logic cartridge elements.
Day 2
- Check valves – types and applications.
- Pump and pump control systems.
- Pump types and operating principles.
- Methods of control / application.
- Accumulator types and application.
- Hydraulic motors and actuators.
- Total cleanliness control.
- Hydraulic fluids, good housekeeping.
- Methods of control and application.
Day 3
- Total cleanliness control.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
- Practical hands-on exercises
